A person goes through various trials and challenges throughout life that may weigh heavily on the heart and mind. In such moments, supplication becomes a safe refuge and a spiritual weapon for the believer, turning to Allah for protection, comfort, and reassurance, strengthening trust that relief is near by His will.
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged believers to make supplication consistently in both ease and hardship, without waiting for trials to occur before turning to Allah. Rather, one should regularly ask for well-being and protection from all harm, as supplication is a great act of worship and a means of repelling adversity and bringing goodness.
Among the recommended supplications for protection is:
“O Allah, we ask You by Your Greatest Name, which if You are called upon by it, You respond, and if You are asked by it, You give. Encompass us with Your protection and care. Protect us from before us, behind us, to our right, to our left, and from above us, and we seek refuge in Your greatness from being harmed from beneath us. You are the Best Protector and the Most Merciful.”
It is also recommended to say:
“O Allah, we ask You for all good, immediate and future, what we know and what we do not know. We seek refuge in You from all evil, immediate and future, what we know and what we do not know. And we ask You to make every decree You have ordained for us good.”
Another comprehensive supplication is:
“O Allah, protect us, our children, and our families. Bless our offspring, place blessing in our wealth, bodies, and health, grant us well-being in all that You have provided us, and make us among Your grateful and remembering servants.”
Additionally, one may ask for inner peace and spiritual strength by seeking that the Qur’an becomes a light for the heart and a cure for sorrow, while also seeking refuge from the evil within oneself and any hidden or apparent harm.
Regular daily remembrance is also encouraged, such as seeking refuge with the perfect words of Allah and saying: “In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing,” as it serves as protection by Allah’s permission. Alongside this, sincere reliance upon Allah and firm belief that true protection lies with Him remain essential.
These supplications serve as a means of drawing closer to Allah, seeking His protection, mercy, and care, while maintaining sincerity and presence of heart during supplication, as sincerity is among the greatest reasons for acceptance and relief from hardship.
