Today marks the anniversary of Magda El-Sabahi, a legendary figure in Egyptian cinema, recognized not only as an actress but also as a successful producer and director.
Born Afaf Ali Kamel Ahmed Abdel Rahman El-Sabahy in Tanta, she earned a French baccalaureate, with her father employed at the Ministry of Transportation.

Her cinematic journey began in 1949 with “Al-Naseh”, directed by Seif El-Din Shawkat alongside Ismail Yassin.
She later founded Magda Films, producing notable works such as “Jamila” and “Hegret El-Rasoul”, representing Egypt at international film festivals.

Magda received numerous awards from Damascus, Berlin, and Venice festivals, alongside the Ministry of Culture and Guidance Award.
She married only once in 1963 to actor Ehab Nafea, with whom she had her daughter Ghada, and revealed her family had opposed marriage to Rushdy Abaza early in her career.
